Round Rock Empty Bowls Festival Success

The 2018 Round Rock Empty Bowls Festival raised $7,320 to feed our community.  As a service learning project of the Round Rock ISD Fine Arts Department, students from across various disciplines learn about community needs, hunger, hunger deserts, empathy, giving to community and construction of functional ceramics through the Empty Bowls Project.

Since 2010, the Festival has raised $66,916 for The Round Rock Area Serving Center  (100% which goes directly to feeding families on our community!)

The $7,320 for this year will purchase 73,000 lbs of food from the Capital Area Food Bank and will fill a grocery cart of food for 1000 families!

In addition, the Round Rock ISD Council of the Arts Food Drive collected 15,502 and counting items of non-perishable food for The Round Rock Area Serving Center.  Congrats to our recognized high count campuses: Purple Sage ES (1304 items), Walsh MS (4662 items) and Cedar Ridge HS (1966 items) – all have trophies to hold for the coming year when we challenge campuses again to participate!

We appreciate our sponsors: The Round Rock Partners in Education Foundation, Cedar Ridge High School, Cedar Ridge Culinary Program, Community Christian Church, Janis Gonser Web Design and Development, RRISD Food Services, RRISD Council of the Arts and RRISD Fine Arts.

Participating campuses included: Blackland Prairie ES • Cactus Ranch ES • Caldwell Heights ES •  Callison ES • Canyon Creek ES • Caraway ES • Double File Trail ES • Elsa England ES • Forest Creek ES • Gattis ES • Herrington ES • Joe Lee Johnson ES • Laurel Mountain ES • Old Town ES • Purple Sage • Robertson ES • Sommer ES • Spicewood ES •  Teravista ES • Union Hill ES • Wells Branch ES • C.D.
